The design of the interior of the corridors of the apartment houses of the residential park situated on the Tabulový Vrch in Moravian Olomouc is inspired by the work of Maurits Cornelis Escher. The principle of intervention in the newly emerging interior is the disruption of the original topological formations and the creation of the optical illusion associated with the logic of the original regular architecture. Escher was particularly well-known in his work for interpreting paradoxes of perspective drawing, while our time – its architecture and housing economy are basically based on strictly rational and pragmatic solutions. The idea of disruption of the optical logic and the perspective of the planned construction of common living spaces offers an infinite chain of optical variants for each individual apartment building. The core of the house remains firm, while its inner coat is one great artwork based on the transcription of project documentation by architects and the photographic documentation of the actual construction result. Using the autors’ wallpapers, the house can easily become the original and endless space for the perspective-mental deformation of the newly created space. After a while, residents start orienting well in a long-time liveable space that does not make sense at first glance, while visitors of the house often feel new spatial experiences.
